Only 3 weeks until Spring? hat is, if the groundhog is correct. After numbers high wind warnings, flood warnings, polar vortex warnings, etc. I'm amazed at the visible signs of life along the kitchen walkway. The parsley is wilted but still green. Buds are emerging from several winter roses (hellebore) planted last fall. And of course, the persistent chickweed is alive and well throughout the long bed. My frequent weeding did nothing but encourage it....the next step, landscape fabric, waits in the garage. The two carnations (dianthus) still have green leaves, and one appears to have a bud.
